Things are Always Working out for Me

Things are always working out for me.

WOW, did I just type that? Yes, this can be a hard pill to swallow especially during a challenge or an ornery day.  When I look back at the challenges, I see things did work out for me. This ornery day happened last week.

I was flying home from a fun trip to Florida. I was tired, my ankle was swelled up from blisters and too much walking in sandals. I was out of my routine for 5 days and worried about a team meeting and a ZOOM presentation I had scheduled for the coming week. I was in pain and tired from the trip therefore, I could not catch up with my writing and complete my PowerPoint slides on the plane ride home.  I was not feeling my best and I was annoyed!

I thought, “things are not working out for me right now.” If this is the way it must be right now, then so be it. I did not fight against the emotions or get mad at myself (well maybe I did for an hour.) I accepted the ornery feelings. I let them flow thru me. I searched for funny things to watch on my iPad to distract myself.  I thought, “This too shall pass.”

The day after I arrived home. I went to yoga, more energy movement please! I organized my office, cleared out my inbox, cancelled an appointment I had for that evening, iced my ankle, and prepared for the meetings and presentations that were happening that week. (“This too shall pass”)

The team meeting went great, my ZOOM Presentation and PowerPoint slides all worked out wonderfully.  The things I needed to get done, got done.  I had the time I needed. Everything worked out.

The key is I did not push against the bad feelings and annoyance, I let them flow, I moved the energy, kept reaching for the best feeling thought I could. After a few days….ahhh yes, “Things are always working out for me.”

This is a minor example of an ornery day. People , including myself, have experienced larger obstacles and challenges. I’ll save those for another post, but the point is the creative writing, delegation, organizing ideas only came after I was in a better feeling place. When we are in a more positive place our minds are open to let the creative thoughts and ideas flow.

The card in the photo is on my dashboard. It reflects the message in my windshield. It is a lovely reminder.  I wish the same for you. “Things are Always Working out for Me.”
